Protecting Video made available to course participants

Before continuing I just want to note that I have searched the forums and found a range of historical responses to the question I'm going to ask.

I want to make it difficult for someone to download sensitive video material that is made available for study purposes and am wondering how to do it.

  • I know that it is impossible to prevent capture and that if someone wants to they will.
  • I also know (and have had) the debate about the inclusion of video material if one doesn't want it downloaded.
  • I also know about adding copyright statements.

I don't want to explore those, and other, similar debates here (please).

The position I am in is that we want to include video on our moodle but because of the nature of some of the content we want to make it awkward/difficult for participants to easily download the video content.

I'm looking for solutions that meet that need.

I'm currently streaming MP4 through Flowplayer having disabled Quicktime and WMP and have installed and enabled RTMP player.  Sadly the 'Save as' option still presents itself in both Internet Explorer and Chrome.

I need the content to be accessed from a number of platforms and browsers.

Getting rid of that would be a start.
