I really like the idea of using journals but I ma concerned about having enough space to store everything. I am running an education businerss and currently have shared hosting.
Any idea how much space a journal takes up? I know it is difficult to estimate, but lets say for each student, if they had to put entries in their journal 5 times and each time they entered 1000 characters. Any ideas?

Well if you figure a 2-bytes a character (which should be plenty) that would be 10k a student. In general text is usually pretty trivial for disk storage. It's pictures, movies, sound, that eat up the space.
