importing quiz from one course to another 'locked by dependencies'

hey guys,

i'm having some issues, when i try to import a quiz from one course to another i get the red X saying "locked by dependencies" is there i can do to resolve this issue?

I've searched everywhere and no one has a solution for this.

Dan,

I've never come across that error. Perhaps someone else has and can give more information.

If you need it right away you might try exporting the questions out of the question bank (if they are set up in a nice category just for that quiz) and then importing them into your course and setting up a quiz with those questions in it.

Unfortunately the quiz we need to import is not set up the way we need it to do that.

Hi,

Same problem here.

I need to import a page from one course to another.

All elements in original course are "Locked by dependencies".

Any solution welcome wink

A solution that worked for me :
Assigned the  Manager Role in Course Category to myself.
Note that, in my case, both source and target Courses are in the same course category.
I don't know if this solution works when source a target courses are in <> course categories.

Thank you, Abdelghani.  I was already Course Manager, but assigning myself to Course Creator did the trick: it enabled me to copy a quiz from one course to another, within the same course category.

Hi,

I had that problem too.  I think it has something to do with the question bank. 

I used ADMINISTRATION > backup on the original course and unchecked everything (user data, etc.) except "Include activities..." and "Include question bank" -- then from the list of activities, I only selected my quiz to copy.


Then for the copy course, I used restore, merge into this course...


I'm not sure import will work in all situations, so backup/restore is what I'll have to use for quizzes.

I was having the same issue. If you are using moodle 2.8.1 or higher, you can use the sharing cart to transfer files with "dependency issues".
