Double downloads on Macs with IE

Double downloads on Macs with IE

Hello,

Lately I've noticed that any word doc uploaded as a resource, gets downloaded to the student's workstation twice when they are using a Mac/IE (OS 9.2 / IE 5.1.6). When this happens to Macintosh users, the top frame of the web page displays for a second (or less) then goes blank. The result is that the user is looking at a blank, 2 frame page with 2 copies of the download in their download location. If they hit back, all is fine - but not all our users are that sophisticated.

I noticed a similiar bug in the Moodle bug tracker, but that suggested that the downloads were corrupted. I'm pretty sure that these are good files.

I don't think it was happening prior to version 1.0.9. When I noticed it, I upgraded to 1.1.1, hoping that would have a fix, but unfortunately it is still occurring.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Trevor

Hi, Trevor,

Just to let you know that you're not alone, we're experiencing the same issue:

Uploaded documents get downloaded twice for clients using a Macintosh and IE.

I haven't tried downloading using Netscape Communicator or Safari...but I'll check it out.

If anyone finds a solution to this (Doug?), please feel free to let us know!

Sincerely,

Michael
