That does seem to be it.

One problem I have is that my school (Stevens Institute of Technology) is using an old (1.9) implementation supported by Blackboard.  No idea why, really.  They are "upgrading" to canvas in 2015.  So I am expected to use the old, obsolete implementation, then deal with an issues of the switch myself, and of course if there are any problems transferring materials to the new system, that's my problem.

I am considering implementing my own2.6 server for me, and possibly just using it.  It's annoying, but at least then I am in charge of my own destiny.

Hi Dov,

Had a quick look into this feature on Moodle 2.6 and didn't find anything except hacks to the core code (not recommended). It looks like Canvas are ahead of the curve in this respect: http://guides.instructure.com/s/2204/m/4152/l/41295-how-do-i-restrict-online-submission-file-types

I've voted for the issue in the tracker. I suggest that everyone interested in this feature do the same: https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-39913 Perhaps for Moodle 2.8?

I hope this helps! smile
