Moodle 2.6.2

Hi,

I would like to investigate the FLAX language learning addon. I use Moodle through a web hosting service and I would like to know how to do it?

Regards

I'm not sure what you are asking. If you want to add flax to your moodle, just download it and put it where the directions state. You can read more about it here

Thanks, I thought that using Moodle through a web host would create an installation problem but I eventually managed to do it, however, when I downloaded the zip file, installed it and then tried to use it through 'Add an activity' it opened OK but the content section in the 'Exercise content' didn't load and the screen went a shade of grey although I could still see Moodle trying to add the activity.

Also the download at FLAX does not connect. Is this still a working add-on? and if so, where is the best place to source the zip file.

Thanks and regards

Russell

There hasn't been much happening with the flax module of late if these are anything to go by.

I saw it back in 2009 and thought "Wow" but had lots of problems with it and never got back to it. You might like to try and contact them via their website http://flax.nzdl.org/greenstone3/flax and see if they are doing anything with Moodle now.

Sorry I can't be of more help. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

I took your advice and contacted Ian Witten at the University of Waikato, who forwarded my email to Shaoqun Wu; his reply is below.

The FLAX Module on Moodle is quite old. I have fixed up the download link on our website (http://flax.nzdl.org/resources/2.5/MoodleFLAX2.5.zip). You could try it, or wait for the most recent (more stable) version that will come out in three weeks time (will keep you updated). We'd like to help you make the module working so please contact us for any questions.

I hope this encourages you to get back to it.
