Hi there,
I'm utterly new to this. I've used moodle through my university for a few years, but have just bought and set up a new moodle site: clarkecroquet.com
I've written a couple of quizzes, and want people to be able to try them. But it turns out people need to be subscribed (i.e. not guests) to be able to do this.
So I tried to set up authentication whereby new users are sent a subscription email. But that didn't work when a user tried to subscribe. He got a message saying that the site couldn't send him an email, and clicked more, and got:
"The error message 'Tried to send you an email but failed!' is most likely due to an incorrect SMTP server configuration."
This sounds pretty reasonable... since I have no idea what an STMP server is, or how to configure it
Please can someone help me to fix this so that new users can subscribe to my site and try out the quizzes?
Many thanks in advance,
Jenny
p.s. sorry if this has been asked a million times before - I found one such question over an hour ago, haven't found it since, and completely didn't understand the question on it. Please be patient. I don't understand SMTP, but I can write awesome quizzes
