Forum tracking - show all posts 'read'

In Moodle version 2.2.3 we are getting queries from some students regarding the Forum tracking functionality.

 

They have it enabled, however they do not always see visual nofications of unread posts.  When they are inside the forum, it shows all posts are read but in fact they haven't read all posts.   

 

Is anyone else having this issue?  

 

Is there a fix.

 

Our It dept tried fixing this by clearing the browser chache, but no luck.

 

We really need help with this.

FYI - On my Moodle 2.5.1 , we sometimes get this problem too. I think it affects those forums for which you use groups and from which you send posts to group members. Things seem to be OK on forums and / or messages intended for all participants.

Not sure it helps, but it seems there is some issue here.
