Assignment

Another possibility is the student mode of a visible groups wiki:
"Every student has their own wiki, which only they and their teacher can edit. Students can view the wikis of all other students in the course"
I don't think you can do grading on wikis though, at least not via moodle.

The myfiles add-on may also do what you require

Thanks Miles and Darren. We will check these options out - any news on actually adding this functionality to the assignments module? - looks like there was discussion about this back in November 2003 - this would seem like it might be useful for cooperative/collaborative learning - right up Moodle's alley.

The Glossary module can also be used to share assignments.

I wonder if the Workshop module would suit your purposes. 
Selected students could view each one another's work and comment give annotated feedback.

I also recommend you check Workshop, which can be thought of as an assignment with peer review and assessment.  The setup may appear somewhat daunting, but Moodle steps you through it pretty well and the helps are quite good.  Workshop has some great additional features that may also interest you (check the helps): Teacher examples, agreement with peer assessments, anonymity before grading.
