How are you using external database enrolment?

Hi all,

I've been using external database enrolment plugin for 2-3 years now. It works very well for us. However, I'm curious to know how you guys deal with "historical" enrolments. Is your external SQL table contains enrolment data of the past X year, and you resync these data everyday?

XDB used to have a purge section of code which I commented out. Then it went to a setting of purge enrollments if course doesn't exist in XDB (Yes/No) but it doesn't work. When I get around to it I'm going to fix the code because its a pain to sync two years of enrollments every day and not need to.

Could you point me out where this commented code is?

I proposed a patch doing something similar to what you describe (https://tracker.moodle.org/browse/MDL-36179) but I'm looking for a less confusing way of doing it.

Also, could you explain me what you mean by "purge enrollments"?
