Dear all,
from time to time students are sending me email, apologizing for not attending my course, either future and past.
Would it be possible to implement a new feature allowing student leave a comment by his name at a given session (past, present or future), so that the teacher can read it "at the spot", and immediately decide about student's attendance status ?

It seems like there are already countless ways to achieve this. You could use completion settings and have them check off a session when they have completed it, you could create a one question quiz which they would complete after a session, you could add a forum activity and ask them just to sign in. You could then easily see who had done what from the grade book or completion report.
