Formatting of feedback in GIFT import

Formatting of feedback in GIFT import

Moodle 2.6

I am using the Gift format to import and the examples given of feedback are very short. I would like to provide feedback with line breaks and I have set the markup to be [html] which allows [strong] to be read but ignores <p>. I have also tried \n but get a single long line for my feedback, not so good when you want to show example sentences.

Any suggestions?

Create an example of what you want in Moodle, using the editing form.

Export it as GIFT.

Look at what you get and do the same.

Found the problem as I was being a little lazy on html formatting. It needs the <p> </p> wrap rather than just <p>.

 Thanks for your help..

Of course, <p> tags go in pairs (like many other HTML tags).

I am trying to include hyperlinks as feedback in my GIFT questions.  The URL is listed, but they are not clickable.

The information that I see regarding that is:

___________________________________

URLs:  Any "word" starting with www. or http:// will automatically be turned into a clickable link.

My links are not 'clickable'.

This is my file:

I don't know why it is not working. I have been staring at the code trying to see if there is a bug ...

Aha! Look on the settings page for the "Convert URLs into links and images" filter. There is a setting for when this should be applied. GIFT defaults to "Moodle auto-format". An alternative is to add [html] at the start of the question text in the GIFT file, then Moodle will import the question as HTML format. That second solution is probably the better one.

Note that you have made one of the classic mistakes of setting multiple choice questions. The right answer is much longer than the distractors. Even though I don't know Nevada law, I would have guessed B and been right.

This advice to students http://www.uwec.edu/geography/ivogeler/multiple.htm - see the numbered points after the Answering Multiple Choice Questions heading. Each of those points corresponds to a mistake the teacher can make, and yours is number 6.

Thanks Tim for your speedy answer!  Because I used quite a few links - I changed the setting at site administration - plugins - filters- manage filters -  to 'on'.  I hadn't seen those settings before!

Also - thanks for the quiz writing tips!
