Moodle version 2.4.3 (Build: 20130318)
PHP version 5.4.22 Environment is Centos, as provided by a VPS server on hostmonster.com
I have been struggling with this problem for weeks now and I'm going crazy.
I am trying to back up my physics course, which is rather big, probably about 400 megabytes in size, and it keeps failing with this message:
500 Internal Server Error. The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Looking in the Apache error log, there is nothing useful. Looking in the Moodle error_logs, there is nothing useful. I have tried setting the error reporting level to "Developer extra moodle error messages" and there nothing remarkable in the resulting error_log. I just shows backup is doing calculations, loading, checking..."
I have changed these parameters in php.ini (and it has helped with backups of smaller courses, but I'm stuck with this bigger course)
;max_execution_time = 30 changed to 999 Peter Halverson 1/19/2014
max_execution_time = 999
;max_input_time = 60 changed to 999 Peter Halverson 1/19/2014
max_input_time = 999
;memory_limit = 128M changed to 3999 Peter Halverson 1/19/2014
memory_limit = 3999M
; Maximum size of POST data that PHP will accept.
;post_max_size = 10M changed to 3999 Peter Halverson 1/19/2014
post_max_size = 3999M
; Maximum allowed size for uploaded files.
;upload_max_filesize = 50M changed to 3999 Peter Halverson 1/19/2014
upload_max_filesize = 3999M
; Default timeout for socket based streams (seconds)
;default_socket_timeout = 60 changed to 999 Peter Halverson 1/19/2014
default_socket_timeout = 60
And I have rebooted the server. NO LUCK.
Here is a tiny clue that might be not helpful... The biggest backup I have ever been able to make is 127.8 Megabytes. Is there anything anywhere in backup, moodle, php or mysql that prevents a backup from being bigger that 128M???
Any help would be extremely appreciated.
