How can I set different themes for different courses in moodle 1.5?
I can only find the theme configuration for the whole page on the admin pages
Maybe this is a silly question, but I searched a lot and couldn't find how to do this.

As Admin you must allow coursethemes in the Variables page of the Site's Configuration.
Then, in each course, go to Settings and scroll to the bottom. Look for "Force Themes" and set it to whatever 1.5 theme you have available.
