We want to implement a type of assignment that can be used for a journal of daily practice. I'd like to find out if there's an existing assignment type that has the features we need, or what you'd recommend as a starting point for creating one.
The assignment itself would be a simple set of HTML fields. Participants can "retake" the assignment as many times as they wish. Each time they can review their old responses, ideally on the same page as they use to make new responses. The assignment is not graded, it's just for them to keep track of their daily practice.
See the attached image for a quick mockup. I'm open to using a different structure, as long as users can 1) visit repeatedly and 2) see their old responses when they visit.
Any thoughts on how we could implement this? Thank you!
Note: This is a lot like a blog, but I don't think moodle's blog feature is what we want. First, we want to have multiple assignments of this type, one for each of several daily exercises, and second, we want to have customizable prompts, as shown in the mockup.
As Damyon said, this is easy using the Database activity. Took about five minutes, but here is a database preset that is very close to your mock up. To use, create a database assignment, then click the Presets tab and select Import from zip file. If you don't want students to see each others entries, in the database settings, change the database Approval Required setting to Yes, and then never approve the entries.
This is fantastic! I didn't know Moodle had this capability. It's exactly what I wanted. Many thanks, AL!
