I'd like to reset a course that's taught every semester, but save the instructor's forum postings. We have one instructor who has created many assignments via his postings to each forum. When we reset the course, ALL of the forum postings (including his) are deleted. Is there a way to retain instructor's posts, while maintaining the function of the course reset that deletes all other postings? (Using Moodle 2.4)

Hi Lisa,
Unfortunately there isn't an easy way of retaining the instructor's posts and deleting the rest. However, for future reference, you could suggest to the instructor that they create a new forum for each assignment (perhaps using the single simple discussion forum type), entering the assignment instructions in the forum description field. The assignment instructions will then survive a course reset.
