We are using ELIS in Moodle. I'm trying to get our hierarchy in Moodle to automatically match job functions in Active Directory. Doesn't need to be an exact match, but I want it to be approximate. E.g. all Project Managers in one branch, all members of Continuous Improvement in another, all members of HR in another, etc. The goal is to allow managers of one job function to get reports for their job function in any given course.
My impression is that ELIS defines the hierarchy through User Sets - so we'd have separate user sets for Project Managers, HR, Continuous Improvement, etc. It also appears you can auto-assign users to user sets based on Profile Fields. so if we set up a Profile Field called Job Function, and have the items Project Manager, HR, Continuous Improvement, users could be assigned to one of these Job Functions and will be grouped together within the hierarchy.
Since we have several hundred employees, and they could change at any time, I'd like the Job Function profile field to be automatically imported over LDAP. Can this be done?
