As a final project for my university, i've been tasked to develop a plugin which communicates with our campus management system through REST protocol, retrieving specific enrolled user data, their id. The goal is to import users in bulk that are enrolled on a course within our campus system, by their identifier only, using XML, without the interface/form that is normally presented when importing bulk users with CSV. And they want me to do that with a simple click of a button( a new item on Course Administration block). Is this feasible by the way?
That's why i started only with a few files on my local/pluginname folder. (I will probably have to add the db folder as well, with install.xml, if i want to store enroled users identifiers, right?)
Concerning the redirection, they will probably say to me " It's up to you" but it will probably subject of discussion later on. Though I am thinking in two options.
1: After the item click, links to me a blank page which runs the whole script, then redirects it back to course page. Not sure if would be preety for the teacher.
2: After the item click, the whole script runs, but teacher stays on the course page, now updated with the enrolled users.( like a refresh of the course page).
Since i'm preety new at this, not sure if any of these things are feasible. My project coordinators are experienced moodlers, but only in terms of usability, so they don't know if everything they ask from me are reasonable as well.
Ty for your time so far.
