Známé nakladatelství O'Reilly spolu se společností Google před časem vyhlásili další ročník udělování cen "Open Source Awards". Jádro komunity uživatelů na moodle.org se rozhodlo nominovat Martina Dougiamase, tvůrce prostředí Moodle, na udělení ceny "Best Education Innovator". Vyzývají nyní všechny uživatele pracující s Moodlem, aby se k jejich nominaci přidali.
Pokud byste se rádi připojili k tomuto projevu uznání za práci, kterou Martin Dougiamas na Moodlu vykonal, můžete se nominace snadno zúčastnit. Stačí, když na adresu osawards@oreilly.com do 15. května 2008 zašlete nominační email, v němž zdůvodníte, proč by měl Martin ocenění získat. V příloze k tomuto příspěvku je možná podoba takového emailu. Je doporučováno, aby obsahoval nominaci jak v našem mateřském jazyce, tak v angličtině. Chceme organizátorům soutěže ukázat, že Moodle je opravdu používán na celém světě a že si Martin cenu zaslouží.
p.s. Martin o nominaci neví - dohadování o navrhovaném titulu a argumentech pro jeho udělení probíhala v uzavřeném Skype chatu.

pedagogiky. Umožňuje učitelům vytvářet online učící se komunity. Moodle je

20.000.000 uživateli z celého světa.
Martin založil řadu diskusních fór na serveru http://moodle.org. Díky svému
vřelému charakteru dokázal Martin navodit v těchto fórech velmi přátelskou a
podporující atmoseféru. Tento "duch Moodlu" se jako virus dále šíří z
moodle.org na další servery.
I když nadále zůstává aktivním vývojářem, zapojil Martin tucty dalších
programátorů do dalšího vývoje svého produktu. Díky jeho zkušenostem se Moodle
stává špičkovým produktem na poli online vzdělávání. Martin stále zůstává
otevřený novým nápadům a diskusím nad novými funkcemi, kterými komunita uživatelů
Moodlu přispívá.
Bez jeho invence by Moodle nebyl tak skvělým produktem, jakým je teď.

Martin is the author and the current project leader of Moodle - open source
course management system. Moodle is unique software as it has been developed to
support modern social constructionist pedagogy. It helps teachers to create
effective online learning communities. Moodle is translated into 75 languages
an is being used at more than 40,000 registred sites by more than 20,000,000
users all over the world.
Martin established a lot of discussion forums at http://moodle.org. By his
welcoming personality, Martin has managed to create very friendly and
supportive atmosphere in these forums. This "spirit of Moodle" spreads like a
virus from moodle.org to all other Moodle sites.
While Martin is still active Moodle developer, he allowed dozens of other
programmers to participate on the product growth. As experienced programmer and
online learning facilitator, he is leading Moodle development to became top
quality product. He is always open to discuss new feature requests and ideas

Without Martin's inventions, Moodle would never be such a great software as it
