Does the Moodle database activity generate queries and reports? How does it function, in comparison to Microsoft Access?

You can read about the functionality of the Database activity in Moodle here:

As you will see it is essentially a flat file database (not an RDBMS like MS Access).
If you are actually talking about the underlying database of Moodle, usually MySQL, then you would use MySQL Queries for reporting.
