How do I ensure that all students enrolled in a particular course, as well as the course moderator, receive e-mail notifications as soon as something is posted in the discussion forum?

This is for Moodle 2.5
Go to the settings for the forum.

Set the subscription mode.

Hi. We have checked all the settings. All we want is that whenever someone posts (student or a teacher), a mail is sent to all in the group informing them that there is a message on the forum. Ben through it step by step, given permissions and if there is a send notification option, the mails should be delivered.
Is it possible that these mail settings are clashing with another setting and what that might be? We've been trying to resolve this for 4 days now. Ta
