We are testing a move to 2.5 and I’ve just got two questions about assignments that are driving me slightly potty other than the system not emailing students after the first grading attempt of their submisisons.
- Student must receive a grade to complete this activity setting – We use a Fail/Pass grading scale for an activity and in the gradebook I’ve set the pass grade to be >1.01 but the activity will not complete for the student. I did think it might be the grading scale so set a test assignment to use a standard 0-100 scale graded a test at 50 but the activity will still not complete for the student account and according to the documentation any mark should complete it. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
- View previous attempts - The reason we are looking to move to 2.5 is to get version history for a couple of our courses that have to be externally verified. I had a long look at MDL-36804 and there is lots of discussion about the way the version history is displayed when grading and to the student (which is very good) but I can’t find an easy way for a tutor to see this history. The only way I’ve seen so far is to click on the grade button again in the grading screen but this seems less than ideal, is there any way to view it elsewhere?
Thanks in advance for any help given.
In regards to your first problem. Pass/Fail accepts 2 grades - 1 (Fail) or 2 (Pass). You should set the "Grade" to "Scale: Pass-Fail" on the assignment edit screen. Then click edit on the item within the gradebook and configure like the attached image. That will allow you to use Pass/Fail.
That's exactly how I've got it set up and it is showing up in the grade book correctly, the problem is the completion condition, I have it set to 'Student must receive a grade to complete this activity' and it does not show the completion tick for the student.
