Hi all,

I've updated all of my course formats to create stable versions for M2.6 and a sight fix for M2.5 versions of Collapsed Topics and Grid.  You can get the updated versions from:

Collapsed Topics

M2.5 - https://moodle.org/plugins/pluginversion.php?id=4799

M2.6 - https://moodle.org/plugins/pluginversion.php?id=4801

Grid

M2.5 - https://moodle.org/plugins/pluginversion.php?id=4803

M2.6 - https://moodle.org/plugins/pluginversion.php?id=4805

Columns

M2.6 - https://moodle.org/plugins/pluginversion.php?id=4809

Noticeboard

M2.6 - https://moodle.org/plugins/pluginversion.php?id=4807

Cheers,

Gareth

Thanks for the noticeboard format - it is something I was looking for!

I have 1 problem though: when using the noticeboard format in conjunction with the one section per page layout  the first page containing the noticeboard (=section 0) doesn't show the rest of the zero section. Instead it displays a collapsed version of the other sections.

Furthermore, the noticeboard is repeated in every section tab.

Is there a way to fix this?

I would like to diplay the notice board in the first tab, followed by the complete contents of section 0, then show the other sevtion one by one, without repeating the notice board.

Is this possible?

Hi Hugo,

In theory yes, but will require a few code changes.  Currently the 'one section per page' functionality operates in the same way as the topics format.  And hence appears on the page with the links to the sections and at the top of each section page.

For the "Furthermore, the noticeboard is repeated in every section tab." should be a one or two line code change.  I'd have to look it up at some point.  Although the depths of my memory seem to say that there might be an existing way of hiding section zero on those pages already.  Strictly speaking its not a bug but an improvement.

Currently there is no 'tab' page for section zero, so that makes things a bit more complex.  With "I would like to diplay the notice board in the first tab, followed by the complete contents of section 0, then show the other sevtion one by one, without repeating the notice board." did you still want the noticeboard on the page with all the section links listed?

What version of Moodle are you using?

All of this would be an 'improvement' as strictly speaking the format is not broken and therefore not a 'bug'.

Cheers,

Gareth

I use Moodle 2.6 with the Cloudyday theme. This theme creates a section menu with links for section 0, section 1, section 2 etc.

In topics format the course homepage shows section 0.

In noticeboard format it shows the notice board plus all the section links.

I wonder if it would be possible to get this (screenshot 2 and 3): notice board only in the course homepage.

Hi Hugo,

Thank you for stating the version and providing screen shots - really helpful.

That's probably possible.  I'm not sure if others would want it the way it is already so possibly need it to be an option.  Need feedback from others.  I'm really busy at the moment and may look at implementing this in the future.

Cheers,

Gareth
