Numbering the Questions

Hi Moodle Community,

I want to auto-number questions in this activity. On the "Edit questions" page, I click the "Edit question" icon. I leave the "Label" text box empty. I then turn on the auto numbering on the "Edit settings" page using the "Automated numbers" drop-down list. The result is that Moodle displays () right after the questions number even though the Label field is blank. I cannot find a way to turn off the egg. Am I doing something wrong?

When I change the "Automated numbers" to "No" and type a number in the "Label" field, the number display properly; (1)

We are using Moodle 2.3.8.

Hi Caryl - maybe is the "label" not the best element to check if auto number is working properly.

  1. Set auto number  questions to "yes"
  2. Edit questions and insert f.ex. a multiple choice question

The preview in the "edit questions" view is as you described but if you change to the "overview" view and then check the preview everything will look as expected. see screenshots/Simon
