Moodle 2.x having come of age, I think I can now ask the following question without hurting too many feelings...
I want to use a series of "Hot Potatoes" files. They number in the tens (say, roughly a hundred).
They are to be used by some students who belong to one Moodle course and some who belong to another.
Eventually, some of the files need correcting. so the best way to avoid correcting them twice is to create a shortcut (or "alias" in Moodle parlance) to the files when creating a HP activity.
The files themselves are in the "private files" directory, so that when I modify one of them, both courses are updated.
So far so good.
However, when I backup the course the aliases are broken (this is nothing new).
This means that:
-I cannot duplicate the cours (say, from a dev. Moodle to a prod. one)
-I cannot lend, sell, give away the course to anyone
-I cannot even restore the course!!! (in case it should crash)
As far as I know, I cannot store the HP on a distant server, they need to be "in" the course".
This leaves me with a very risky situation.
Anyone any idea how to get firmer grip on this business?
(apart from having everyone on he same course and managin groups)
Cheers to all
