I give lots of short quizzes, typically awarding 10 to 15 marks. I use them for low stakes formative assessment.
This week I started inserting animated gifs into the feedback part. So they might see a Squirrel playing harmonica if you get 100% or a kitten playing violin if you get 99% or less. The students (typically 16 to 19 year olds) like it. It adds a nice ripple at the end of the quiz when they get to see the novelty. Try it.
