I'm looking for a way to temporarily disable a student's access to one course on a Moodle system.
I don't want to use 'no login' as the student may need to access other courses on the system.
I don't want to unenroll him as we'll want all his records to remain and be available when access is once again permitted.
I was going to try restricting access to topic areas based on name 'does not contain' but if I have multiple students I want to temporarily restrict, it only lets me enter one first name and one surname.
We use a Moodle Partner for hosting on a 2.4 core environment and our enrollment is integrated with our student information system. I had a workaround in 1.9 to assign Guest access to the Student and then prevent guest access for the course, which would then cause the student to get an error message and be unable to access the course site. Once I removed the Guest role from the Student, he was once again able to access the course with all his previous records intact. But this doesn't seem to work in 2.4.
Any recommendations appreciated.
