Course View Changed after upgrade to 2.5.2

After we upgraded from 2.5.1 to 2.5.2 our courses are displaying differently.

When we click on courses we see a list of all of our top level courses, this did not change after the upgrade.  The difference is now when we click on a top level course we only see the sub-categories listed.  Before the upgrade we saw the sub-categories and the courses that were assigned to the top level course.  These courses that were assigned to our top level courses no longer show up.  We can still see and access the courses by using the administrator menu, but this is an extra step that wasn't present before.

I've attached a screenshot of what the site used to look like vs what it looks like now.  The view on the top of the image is 2.5.1 and the bottom half of the image is what we see now in 2.5.2

I saw another forum post about a similar issue and the suggested fix was to backup and restore the DB as UTF8.  Our DB is already set to use UTF8.  Has anyone else had a similar problem or have any advice?

Thanks in advance!

The top view is with editing on and the bottom with editing off so they are not really comparable.

The top portion is with edit turned on but was not able to get to old view to take a screen shot and that is as close as we could get it.  With edit off we would see the sub-categories at the top and then the courses listed below.  Now the only way to navigate to courses is by clicking on the Navigation sidebar/block and courses.

Why are they not listed below the sub-categories as before?
