I wonder if anyone who has set up a site like this can advise me. This sort of approach seems to be increasingly common for UK undergraduates.
Our medical students undertake a number of placements at different hospitals. Each placement covers a different specialty – for example, students go on ‘Surgery placements’ and on ‘Paediatrics placements’. I am planning to set these up as Moodle courses.
There are also 'longitudinal' themes that are studied in all three years, and which are relevant to every placement. Examples might be ‘Ethics and Law’ and ‘Leadership and Management’.
Course Coordinators want students to have access to all material on all placements and themes, both past and future, at all stages of their course.
I could set the Themes up as Blocks. I wonder if this is the most intuitive way to handle this or if there are other approaches that would make the cross-curricular nature of the Themes more transparent.
