Having had a quick look through previous discussions, I am aware that attempts are being made to make the Workshop module compatible with groups. (groups forumid:124). However, it is not clear to me if and to what extent the workshop module recognises groups.
This week I will have two cohorts of 40 students grading each others' work. I would prefer it if students in 'group A' only get to evaluate the work of students in their same group, and not that of students in 'group B'.
The course has been set up with 'Group mode = separate groups', so will it be the case that 'group A' students will only be able to evaluate the work of 'group A' students, or will they also be given work by 'group B' students to evaluate, and vice-versa?
I am using moodle 1.4.3 + (2004083131).
Any advice will be much appreciated.
Workshops and Groups

On a similar track as the above question, I would like to do the following (this is something I used to do when I had WebCT...):
I would like to put each student into their own "group" and then they would have their own "my files" area to store files. This worked great in WebCT when teaching basic web classes in HTML. The student could keep their files all organized and the instructor could go in and see what they were up to. The relative links all worked, etc. Each student only has access to their own work. Can the current version of this workshop work like this?
Thanks!

Re: Workshops and Groups
Sady, no... I actually had to trick Moodle to do this:
1. I setup a forum that was group-separated. This allowed the group to post files and discuss them.
2. I seup the workshop so that each group submitted one time - but to allow non-submitter to access a projecct, I needed to edit the source code. You cold get around this by having everyone submit a blank project, but that leads to problem in assigning assessment materials.
3. I had to manually propagate the grades throughout the group using the Edit Grades gradebook add-on. This led to problems becasue the add-on doesn't work with the workshop, so I created an extra credit assignment to facilitates this.
It was a bit of a pain, but I got it to simulate what I wanted until the proper tools become available. I think next semester, I 'll look at the "Team" Module some people are working on - but that doesn't allow peer assessment, so I'll have to figure something else out.

Re: Workshops and Groups
You could try this block if you wan pupils to uplad file into a my files area. They can share files with other uses, but there is no way to record grades.
Pupil 1 shares file with pupil 2 and 3
They download file and assess it and return it by e-mail or if theyedit the file to add comments eg word reviewing tools or adding text boxes they can then upload the marked file themselves and share with pupil 1
portfolio
try submission and sharing of files.
