Invalid Json String error - revisited

I using moodle 2.5 and my server info is

Disk Usage:                     171.13 / Unlimited MB

Bandwidth:             92.84 / Unlimited MB

Server Name: server23.3owl.com
Server IP: 31.170.166.27
Server Load: 1.71
MySQL Server Load: 0.1
Apache Version: Apache/2.2.17
PHP Version: 5.4
MySQL Version:

5.1.58

I am getting the Invalid JSON String Error when trying to access file picker.

Invalid JSON string<pre> Warning:  set_time_limit() has been disabled for security reasons in /home/u693190376/public_html/repository/repository_ajax.php on line 90 {"login":[{"label":"URL: ","id":"fileurl","type":"text","name":"file"}],"login_btn_label":"Download","allowcaching":true,"repo_id":4}</pre>

I have been working to solve this problem since Thursday, trying every possible suggestion. Any help would be much appreciated at this point.

Hi Willie,
you need to ask to your hosting provider to enable set_time_limit() otherwise you'll not be able to run Moodle on their server(s): indeed, Moodle is used to manage the PHP timeout, for some features, based on the expected time required (on average) to run that particular operation.

HTH,
Matteo

I visited my hosting provider as explained and the games of ping-pong begins

they say quote and I quote " This issue is not directly related to the hosting service we offer. It is a configuration or application specific issue, so you should consult with a developer on what might have caused this issue."

How do I resolve this issue?angry

Do you have access to your php.ini file?

If you do, what happens when you set

safe_mode=off;

in php.ini?

Simple question. Where can I find this php,ini file I have search the entire site directory for it. If there is not one in the site directory - do I have to create.a .htaccess file to change these setting? if this is the case how do I go about this?

Thanks
