We're using Moodle 1.9 and we have an issue when restoring courses. It seems this has just started to happen recently but I cannot pinpoint the origin of the problem and therefore fix it.
When we backup and restore a course (we refresh module pages for the new academic year), we carry over all the roles (except students). All restoring work fine apart from one role type: "information Specialist". The user(s) in that role are not carried over in the new course page and seem to disappear.
A few months ago, we had created a copy of that role "Library Staff" as we needed to add more staff under the same capabilities but needed the original role to retain the 'main' information specialist to allow clarity for staff and students.
When restoring, I suspect the staff enrolled under "information specialist" in the original course page ends up as "Library Staff" in the target course page.
How can this happen and where can I 'break' that link so that we can backup and restore courses without having to re-enrol our information specialists?
Any ideas or help appreciated?
