IMS Access for All profiles

Hi all

I'm starting a new project to add to moodle the functionality to read and write user accesibility options (as are described in the next coming standard AFAv3 from IMS Global).

First, the data cannot be stored in the moodle database because of legal issues. So it has to query an external mysql database (who is also going to be shared by some other moodle instances)

Even if the core functionality is to add fields to user profiles, it seems to me that the best way will be to create a local plugin and adding a new category in the navgation.

What do experienced moodlers think about that?

The second feature of the project will be to show or not file ressources into courses depending on what you have previously defined in your AFA profile, and some metadata of the ressource (wich is also to be stored in an external db).

It is my first project in moodle so i'm mainly expecting advices and ideas.
