I've just installed Moodle. I've understood that I'm only an authenticated user but I'd like to put my own lessons for my students for the school year to come. How do I ask for the role of teacher or course creator ? Thanks for the help
Mary Cooch will have lots of advice for you.
Meanwhile, whoever has the administrator role should make you a teacher. Be careful to not be assigned system-wide roles, or you will be in all courses on Moodle.
Probably, the best thing to learn is the difference between a site-wide role and a course role.
HI Joelle. When you say you've "Just installed Moodle", what do you mean? Have you installed it on a website or on your laptop - if so, then you should have an administrator account that will let you create courses for your classes. Or did you mean you made an account (like on this Moodle or your establishment Moodle for example)?
Hi Mary, when I say "I've installed Moodle", I mean I've downloaoded it on my laptop. So I have created only a username and a password : so I made an account. With these I can surf on Moodle but I don't know where to go to create courses for my classes. On my profile, I've accepted the choices already made and as to the roles I don't know where to go. And I've understood that I need to be a course creator or a teacher to create my own courses. Thanks for your help.
Thank you so much. And you know what ? Mary Cooch has already given me an answer. I'll see for the difference between a site-wide role and a course role. In fact I "just" want to create courses (grammar revisions, maybe reading and writing activities) to offer my students another way to work on their own. I'll start with what seems simple for me. Thanks again
Hi again ! I just replied to your message and am posting here also. To create courses and use them with your classes on Moodle you need to have a Moodle site -this site is just for discussing Moodle and answering Moodle questions. Some teachers have Moodle installed in their institution; others get a web host to install it for them and they can use it with their classes. Here is some documentation to get you started About Moodle FAQ
En plus, je ne sais pas si tu as remarqué, mais il y a aussi un forum francophone ici avec une communauté très gentille! https://moodle.org/course/view.php?id=20
