problem with html image tags

problem with html image tags

greetings,
I am new to moodle and I have tried reading as much on this as possible before
posting this question. I have installed hotpot and  have imported  some  hotpotatoes quiz that I created. Everything is uploaded fine except for the images.
When I try to preview the questions I get the html tag <img src=""></img> and no image. GD is installed and the multimedia filter is enabled.

At first I thought it was a relative path versus an absolute path issue. As a result,
I converted all of my image sources to absolute paths that exist. Yet the quiz module does not the display the images, I still see the html tags. Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Hi Jean,
I haven't come across a quiz behaving like this before, with the URL for an image disappearing completely. Very puzzling!

I wonder if you could post the quiz file, or send it over to me so I can investigate?

Hi Gordon,
sorry for the misunderstanding. The links are not disappearing. I meant to say that all I see are the html tags. I have attached the hotpotatoes files. Thanks for your help.

Hi Jean,
I have had a look at the quiz file you kindly sent and everything seems OK. I was able to add it to a course, both as it is and in its HTML form, and the images showed up fine.

When you first reported the problem, I immediately thought it was happening as you tried to add a HotPot activity to a course. However, having a second read (and some second thoughts), I now realize that maybe what you are trying to do is import the quiz into Moodle's quiz module? In that case the IMG tags do appear as tags, not as the image. Sorry about that. I intend to fix this when I overhaul the importing to work wth Moodle v1.5 (although the problem you report happens in all versions of Moodle)

For the time being, you will only be able to add the HotPot quiz to a course as a HotPot activity. Here's how (and I apologize if you already know this):

  • click the "Turn editing on" button on the course page
  • click the "Add an Activity" menu in the section where you want to add the HotPot quiz
  • select "Hot Potatoes Quiz".

You will then get the "Adding a new Hot Potatoes Quiz " screen, and ... Bob's your uncle, if you know what I mean smile

all the best

Thanks Gordon,
There is just this one problem. I go to add the Hot Potatoes quiz as an activity.
After uploading the file and hitting submit. I get the following error.  Know of any reason why this might occur? Thanks for your time.
