"Unlimited" attempts requires 2 attempts to return a grade

Running Moodle 2.4.4+ here.

When I set a quiz to unlimited attempts, no grade is recorded until the student has completed a minimum of two attempts.

After the first attempt, no grade is recorded, even for a perfect score.

Anybody know what causes this and how it can be fixed to allow one attempt, if that attempt meets the criterion?

I just tested and I can't reproduce that. It worked as expected for me.

What database are you using?

Can you try it again?

You are correct. I'm not seeing the problem now, either.

The hosting service been upgrading and having problems with the upgrades, so I'm going to attribute the problem to that cause and go ahead from here.
