Odd. To double check I've done a M2.3 (the last version to contain the table) backup to M2.5 restore and a M2.5 backup to M2.5 restore and do not get the error message.
So could you remove the table from your database, turn on Developer level debugging with 'display' - http://docs.moodle.org/25/en/Debugging - and repeat what you did to produce a stack trace which will help.
Also if possible placing somewhere a copy of one of the backup files that causes the issue so I can download and test along with a copy of the 'topcoll' folder you have uploaded to your server so I can check it.
