Repository Preference and Plug-in Maturity

Repository Preference and Plug-in Maturity

What is the current consensus on Repository choice in the Moodle community based on ease of use (for instructors)? We have been experimenting with the stock Alfresco, Webdav, Google Drive, and Dropbox plug-ins. While many of these seem to have been discussed in the development stages of the current Repository structure, a rehash some 1-2 years afterward could be beneficial to newcomers and recent upgraders.

One such point of interest is: Does the maturity of a plug-in reflect its popularity in the community? By a survey of posts within this forum, Alfresco appears the most frequently discussed repository, with Google Drive a close second. Testing of these plug-ins, however, has revealed several shortcomings of each, including lack of robust linking (Alfresco tickets no longer disk-cacheable in latest version) and complete integration in a Moodle context (two separate interfaces for uploading documents to repository and inserting into courses).
