How would you build a course that has units and lessons within those each unit?. I am starting fresh next year, and want to use that schema, but not sure which Moodle tools I should employ. That is, should I use the topic format, social format, or weekly format? Furthermore, should I use metacourses for the lessons?
One extenuating circumstance is that I will be building three separate courses for three separate grade levels in middle school. I plan to use groupings for some of the assignments to restrict some grade levels from seeing other group's lessons. But, OTOH, there may be times when all three grade levels will share a particular common lesson. This will keep me from having to duplicate common assignments, resources, files, etc.
I also wonder how this will impact my arrangement of grade categories...
So, in order to organize the pages, I will be using units, and lessons within those units. It seems to me that using the topics format is the most logical, however, should I use one topic as one unit, and then just build lessons within that topic (unit)? Or, is there a better way? I am open to anything at this point.
My current thinking for example:
Moodle Topic 1 = Unit 1
- Lesson 1
- Lesson 2
- Lesson 3
Moodle Topic 2 = Unit 2
- Lesson 1
- Lesson 2
- Lesson 3
etc....
Your advice is much appreciated.
