Help?! Restore external .mbz file?

Help?! Restore external .mbz file?

Hi,

I'm a teacher, I do not have IT administrator privileges.  I'm in a bit of a panic.  Our IT guy left this year and has gone abroad.  He is not available.  We don't have a new IT person on board yet.

I have a .mbz file from an earlier case that I saved on my own computer as an archive.  I cannot for the life of me figure out how to open it on our moodle software.

Do I have to have administrator privileges to reopen this file?

Or is there a way I can direct moodle to the file and have it open or restore the file?  If so, how do I do this?

Thank you for any suggestions/help,

Ben

Hello Ben,

.mbz is moodle course backup file.

you may restore it again as new course or merge into any existing course using restore option from front-page or from any existing course. but i believed you would need Moodle admin user for doing this.

if you just want to open this file and see the content then you could setup a local moodle instance in your computer and try to restore it.

does this help?

thanks

Nitin

Hi Ben

You need to restore the .mbz file in your moodle. Just follow this doc http://docs.moodle.org/24/en/Course_restore .
