First, I am great fun of HotPot and I want to thanks to Gordon for his great effort and hard work!
These days I have one dilemma, and I would like to here more opinions about it. At this moment we develop one moodle course that will go on monthly basis, with between 300 and 2000 users. During this one month period, users must solve 14 moodle quizes with about 10 questions in order to be graded. Except that "exams", course will have 14 "excercises" with 10-20 qustions that will not be graded. Those "excercises" could be made equaly in hotpot or with modle quiz activity. Questions are pretty simple, multiple choice or match, nothing specific, so it could be made one way or another.
We use moodle 2.4 on cloud linux hosting (not shared) with good CPU and possibilty to change amount of RAM up to 8GB, initially it would be 2GB.
I'm interested in your opinion of what is best from the perspective of improved Moodle performance, should we create those excercises like hotpot quizes or moodle quizes?
I am aware of pros and cons for both hotpot (this one is my favorite) and moodle quizes in moodle context, but at this moment, better performance (smooth and eazy) is crucial.
I was thinkig to made two courses with same quizes, first one maded with hotpot and second with moodle quizes, and to use tools for performace testing before we start to use this course in real context.
If anyone have some expirience, opinion or comment, I would be gratefull to hear it.
Regards.
