Windows Platform Installation - Initial Configuration, then Nothing.

Hi.

I have been attempting to get Moodle 2.5+ to work as a local install on my Windows 8 laptop.  I downloaded the file, ran the Apache server emulator, then got the Moodle installation configured and all.  It seems, though, that only moments into my experience with it, IE is unable to reach the virtual server and times out.  I have made sure that there is nothing else listening on 80/443, and I have restarted the virtual server, but I just get a "This Page Can't Be Displayed" message in my browser.

Any suggestions?  Not sure what else would interfere with successfully reaching the server.

Thanks.

Particularly helpful Moodlers
Turn off the stupid "show friendly errors" setting in IE. Then you'll see some better messages. Enable error logging in PHP and then check what the error message in in the PHP error log file.
