hi,

ive a working moodle 1.9.x site, i also have a test 2.1.x site up and going on my host. when i backup my 1.9 course and use the conversion thingy to convert it creates a .mbz file.

the file size is a 13059 kb .mbz file and my moodle says it's too large a file to import when i try to import into the 2.x site ive attached the error in an image.

so i created a fresh machine , one where i could control the config files and any max file size issues... i installed a quick xampp setup, and tried to upload the same .mbz file, it just kept spinning and spinning..

question.. how do i get my 1.9.x course into 2.5.x?

thanks for any help.

Hi Marc,

Go into Moodledata > Repositories inside the WAMP server file system

Make a new folder called "Backup"

Put your MBZ file in there

On the moodle go to Site Admin > Plugins > Repositories > Manage repositories

Enable "File System" and then go to the settings where there will be a drop down with "Backup" in it, select that and save.

Now underneath "Wikimedia" you will have a new link called "Backup" and you can access you backup file from there.

Hope that helps

Charlie

Charlie,

Thanks for responding to my help request, I'm stumped here.

I'm going to try what you mentioned this afternoon, and let you know.

Have you gone into the php.ini file and increased the max_upload_size and max_post_size sizes? That is what the error message is telling you. If you cannot access the ini file, then perhaps you can break it down into a smaller set of files, and append to the course in the v2.5. If you are trying to include User data, I suggest you leave that out all together - that will not restore.
