is it safe to delete the contents of this folder? We have a lot of data there which seems to be just the same that we have in the course folders.

As the zips have already been upacked, you shouldn't have any problems deleting them.
Yes, I would think so. If in doubt, however, one could copy all files out into a hold directory, then remove the contents of the folder, not the folder itself. If, after usage of site, no errors reported ... delete.

Guillermo & Ken, thanks for advice! We've made a backup so we will delete the contents of "unzip" and I'll post again to confirm if it's safe to do it.
