Is it normal to have the CPU wait time go north of 50% on a regular basis?
I’m running Moodle 2.4+ (Build: 20130111) on a dual-core Xeon with 6GB of memory running Ubuntu 12.04 x64. No other websites or applications are on the box.
I am watching TOP as about 75 students hit Moodle to fill out several long surveys using the Questionnaire module.
The CPU wait time is hovering around 25% and spikes to about 75%.
I noticed similar behavior when I was installing Moodle and the DB was being setup.
I have a feeling that this is a MySQL bottleneck, but I’m not sure where to go from here.
I’m using a single SATA drive.
