single sign on with external application - systems integration

Hi, we use Moodle 2.4.3 on Windows 2008 server, IIS, PHP 5.3.18 and MySql.

Our Moodle uses external Oracle database for authentication and login works OK.

Our faculty also uses an e-student web (.NET framework based) application based on that same Oracle database, where all the "real" data is stored (our moodle is just for classes, no examns, no real grades, no record management, etc.)

How can we set up the systems, so that when a student logs in our e-student web app, he can click on a link of a specific course (he is already enroled in) and get into that moodle course without logging in again to moodle?

Can you at least direct me to some help pages or give any other usefull info.

Thank you

Mitja

Hi

it might depend what else you have available in your network. e.g. Cas, Shibboleth.

Hav eyou tried the Moodle docs page for authentication http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Authentication

It will at least give you a clue of what is avaialable.

I have very much the same problem. I have a .NET web application with its own internal authentication and I want to authenticate users authenticated on the web site in moodle. I looked into using a web service (loginas?) to achieve that, but have so far been unsuccessful.
