Hi Simon, thank you for the reply. It is shared hosting that should be optimized for moodle. My impression also is that the system must be over-utilized or under-resourced. That is the only way I can explain why it would be fast sometimes, often slow, and usually somewhere in between. I've installed yslow on my browser but would be interested to know if there might be a better way to document this in a way that would be helpful to our hosts in troubleshooting the issue.
