I have recently reviewed documentation on Repositories generated by an administrator in the Moodledata folder versus Moodle supported or generated repositories outside it. I have three questions.
Q1) Have I made a mistake by placing this dswmedia folder outside the MoodleData folder? What are the consequences of this? I have noticed that when I do a git update that I must restore this folder from a downloaded location. Is that as bad as it gets? Should I move this dswmedia folder inside the Moodle data folder and redo my links? What advantages will I gain by doing this?
Q2) I also assume that the other folders in the repository outside the moodledata folder should remain where they are. But what purpose are the folders like user, upload, test, recent, and local? What kind of files end up in these repository folders?
So far, I am not in too deep, just about 25 or so links. So, if changing is the best thing to do, I'd sure like to know sooner or later.
Q3) I did try to build a repository that would for the .dcr files, which, for security reasons, are supposed to be stored in a folder named dswmedia. The .dcr files are a type of shockwave, not .swf, and I wonder if player plugin and repository option could be created for these files?
Thanks in advance for any advice or comment,
