This summer the DivChed Committee on Computers in Chemical Education (CCCE) is hosting a ConfChem (online conference) on using Moodle in the Chemistry Classroom. We're seeking teachers or IT personel from all levels and areas that would like to share their Moodle expereience with our chem ed community by "authoring" a digital paper on their topic. Check out the announcement below and contact me if you have any questions or would like to submit a "paper" to conference.

Authors and participants do not need to be members of ACS nor is there a fee to participate (you will need to create a free account with CCCE to participate).

Announcing the Summer 2013 ConfChem

Teaching and Learning Chemistry with Moodle

Moodle (Modular Object-Oriented Dynamic Learning Environment) is an open-source Course  Management System (CMS) that can be used to create effective online learning sites. This conference will highlight how instructors at all levels have successfully used Moodle to teach chemistry and in turn made an impact on their students' learning. Papers will highlight the following topics:

  • Innovative ways to use Moodle in the chemistry classroom.
  • Ways to integrate Moodle into your existing curriculum
  • Simple modifications or add-ons to Moodle which add exceptional value to teaching chemistry.

Conference participants will also have a chance to demo the resources discussed and set up their own free courses using ChemEd DL’s Moodle server

Anyone interested in submitting a paper should contact Linda Fanis (by replying to this post), or Janice Tomasik.

Relevant Dates:
