Our institution currently maintains two separate Moodle sites - once for its graduate program and one for it's post-graduate programs.

We're now being forced (it's a long story) to move the post-graduate site to a subdomain of the graduate program site and combine the two databases. On a high level, I think that I understand how this would work, but I'm still a bit worried about it. 

Does anyone have any experience working on a project like this? I'd be interesting about any problems that you encountered or suggestions that you might have.

What do you mean to combine the two databases?

Are you going to have one database and one moodle site after the migration?

If not and you simply want to migrate the post-graduate moodle instance under a subdomain of the graduate program site, you should advice moodle migration here http://docs.moodle.org/23/en/Moodle_migration and make the appropriate settings to your web server (apache??).
